What I am most impressed by is the list of secession movements being so large without even mentioning Texas.  I am not part of any sort of secession group but now that you mention it I might start digging deeper into my local movement here in Texas.

The answer to this question is... 'it all depends on the people you are surrounded by'  Sometimes it is best to stay quiet, it is like the Taoist principle of Wu Wei or non action.  Sometimes if those around you already know what your stance is, silence speaks volumes louder than speech.  At others time when those around you are naive to the truth of FREEDOM and LIBERTY then it is absolutely necessary to speak up.

We should start working on what campaign stances should be highlighted.

I really like the idea of having teams for each platform and figuring out who is best on which social media site.

I suggest the first campaign stances should be on:

Marijuana
Crypto-currency
Military Intervention

any other suggestions?

We should start with between 5-10 stances and really hash out the full platform and how to promote each stance.  I do not even think it is important to push anything to do with Kokesh 2020 right away.  It is more about laying the ground work by opening peoples eyes to certain issues, that way once they see Adam on the TV in 2019 they will recognize the things he is speaking about.  They will know what the non-aggression principle is, they will have heard of the Libertarian party, they will be more receptive to the message of Freedom if they slowly but surely learn about it over the next 4 years.

Whats next, where do we begin?

40 Hours, wife and kid, lots of time diddling away on the iPad is my matrix.

We all dream of a bigger better life, it’s an appropriate thing to do, it drives you.  Do not let it cause concern or dismay, don’t get upset that you haven’t reached self imposed mandatory heights of success.  Don’t strive to be like anyone else, figure out how it is you can best contribute to the Freedom movement with all of the resources you have.  Keeping in mind also your individual limitations.

I think it is incredible that Adam provokes such a real outpouring on his forums.  It is truly like minded people here and if we just keep on pushing discussions like this, some day Slow poke’s dream is going to come true.

Living FREEDOM! / Re: Gold & Silver as Investment
« on: June 13, 2016, 09:32:39 PM »
I don't think I have ever seen such a succinct list of appropriate things to invest your time and money in to than what Magnaniman shared, that is spot on advice.

To go more along the lines of what Woodogg was trying to touch upon:

'This was more about alternatives to traditional saving methods like 401k'

I have thought about that considerably.  I was always very anti establishment until I got a job with a company offering me 401k, stock buy and vested stock options, and all sorts of ways to invest my pay.  I never though about it and was always against the idea thinking that a 401k would not be worthwhile use of my money.

I turned off the 401k after the first weeks paycheck needing the money to help pay for diapers and rent and such.  Shortly after I started buying silver every month or so.  I built up a reasonable collection over the past 3 years.  However one of the things I always hear in financial discussions is the word 'diversify'.  I think what's more important than having a huge pile of cash, silver, food, stocks, bonds, medicine, guns, or cryptocurrency, is to have a sizable amount of all of the above.

If your first thought is retirement and you feel as if the world is a stable place and there will be no need to prepare with food and bullets, then go with silver, some long term stocks, some cash from around the world, hell, even turn on your 401k (which I did just recently).

If your first concerns are that war is imminent and civil unrest is only an EBT outage away, then invest in food, water, medicine, first aid items, lighters, etc.

If you want to be prepared for all possibilities do all of the above.

One last tidbit, since I turned on my 401k I look at everything in percentages.  I no longer say 'I am going to save $50 every week.'  I say 'I am going to invest 1% of my pay in silver this month'.  So what it comes down to is that I put 1% of my pay in to 401k, 1% in to stocks, 1% in to silver, I allow myself another 1% for frivolous eBay spending on 'collectibles' (this is to calm my inner child of course) and the last 1% in a savings account.  Right now with my current financial burdens I can only afford to 'save' so much, but as I get paid more that 1% automatically grows with each annual raise.  Then once I reach a certain threshold where I can afford to do so I will go up to 2% or 3 % on each item.

This has been my strategy, everything steadily grows and I still occasionally purchase additional food to store, water barrels, seeds, first aid items and other such preparedness products that I can fit in the nooks and crannies of my apartment.

Terrific.  Dude the part I seized upon is this:

'And I think one of the best ways to show people this can work is to do it at smaller levels of government -- the smallest levels, in fact.  Even starting within our personal lives, by taking responsibility for things that governments (or other illegitimate authorities in our lives) would otherwise handle for us.'

This is the actionable item in your post.  This is what we can take and start planning something concrete based around.

So what are the services that we rely on government for that we need to take in to our own hands?

The first things that comes to mind are water, electricity and food for me.

I have water collection systems, they are in their infancy and supply only water to the garden so far, but it is a step in the right direction.

Electricity can be covered by solar panels, converters, batteries, wind turbines etc.

I used to have a VW Bus with a Solar panel and two boat batteries along with an AC/DC converter in the vehicle to plug fans and lights in to.  Unfortunately it was sold a year or so ago and since then I have had no follow up for solar or wind energy set up... yet.

The final thing obviously comes down to growing food, start small.  I''ve gotten decent harvests from a garden set up on my second floor porch out of a 900 square foot apartment.  No matters what your outdoor situation is you can grow something.  Start with one plant, work on from there.

What suggestions do you have?  What does government provide that we can start taking in to our own hands?  And what are some examples of how to start doing things more locally?

This is a wonderful idea, the thing that bothers me is your very last statement.  Why would you suggest such a good idea and then end it by claiming that you would not want to participate in it yourself:

'If I were to run, which is unlikely, perhaps I could run in the Democratic party.'

Tell us more about how you would spread the message of freedom in the Democratic party.  Because this is good, get people to run for positions in their local districts.  I would run as Libertarian myself and have already started looking in to the possible positions I can run for in Austin Texas.

If you were to run as a Democrat what would your positions be?  What would your campaign's goal be?  How would you hope to change the current Democratic platform?

Libertariantony,  I just started posting here the other day but if I've learned anything so far, it is to just start the project you are proposing.  Get it up and running and reach out if you need any help or guidance.  The orginization right now is minimal but with each individual contributing in their own way it spreads the message far and wide.

I created a bunch of 'Post Card' graphics to promote the events in Texas.
The only complete one is Austin but the rest just need the text when the locations are determined.

Good news.  Got front page at http://theconsciousresistance.com

Direct link is: http://theconsciousresistance.com/2016/06/love-freedom-adam-kokesh-book-tour/

I saw Derrick speak with Adam at Brave New Books last year, obviously I supported Adam to begin with, that is why I went to the event.  But as soon as Derrick took the stage I recognized him from having hosted a couple of episodes of Adam VS the Man.  The one that stood out to me was on shamanism.  Derrick Broze in an interesting dude.  If you all haven't seen his Conscious Resistance community yet, check it out.

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I saw the Texas page and already submitted myself for Travis County representative for the campaign.  I would love to join the Facebook page, however I deleted my Facebook account five years ago and don't ever plan on looking back.  I want to contribute as much as I can and hope that the forums become an active way to do so.

I will be submitting this article (which includes todays Press Release) to multiple news sources, lets hope some bite:

When Adam Kokesh began an IndieGoGo campaign at the end of 2014 there were still a lot of questions to be answered.  What was his book FREEDOM! about, when were the 30,000 copies Adam ordered going to arrive and was the American Campfire Freedom Tour actually going to occur?

The fundraiser met its goal on the very last day, it was a race to the finish line the entire way and after the goal was met Adam went dark for a couple of weeks.  There were no updates on the tour or when those of us who contributed could expect our copies of the book.

The wait didn’t last long though, come April the tour began and lasted well in to the Fall of 2015.  Adam and his fiancé Macey brought their 19 foot trailer home around the country to any like minded establishment that would have them.

Here we are, a little more than a year later and not only was the American Campfire Freedom Tour a great success, but on top of that the message of FREEDOM! has spread so far and wide that Adam has moved on to his second tour, FOR THE LOVE OF FREEDOM!

If you missed the first time FREEDOM! was brought on the road this is your chance to meet the author whose message is one of personal freedom and responsibility.  Whose personal journey is unparalleled in modern history.

From soldier to war activist, television and online news personality, political prisoner, author, homesteader and Libertarian.  Adam Kokesh is a Political Revolution and a Big Tent Party all by himself.

This tour brings the message of FREEDOM! back on the road, it will also serve as an exploratory trip to measure the support for a potential Kokesh 2020 Presidential bid.  A Presidential Campaign that promises to bring about an orderly, peaceful dissolution of the US Government.

Many individuals believe that the message of freedom is popular, and Adam Kokesh is no exception.

Beginning in August, Kokesh will be kicking off his FOR THE LOVE OF FREEDOM! National Tour. The tour will go until the end of October. It will include 60 events across the continental United States. He will be distributing free copies of his book FREEDOM! at every event, which is currently in its fourth printing, with two million downloads.

“I started writing FREEDOM! because I wanted the ultimate tool to share the message as easily, efficiently, and joyously as possible,” explained Kokesh.

The FREEDOM! tour will help Kokesh gauge national interest for his Presidential run in 2020. He hopes to confirm the support of current fans, while gaining the support of new ones.

“If support continues to build, next summer I will announce that I am running for President on the platform of peacefully abolishing the entire federal government in an orderly manner and returning all of its land and stolen property directly to the people,” said Kokesh.

All events on the tour are free and open to the public. The help support the tour financially, Kokesh will be will be holding off-the-record meet and greets before each event. To purchase meet-and-greet tickets, make monetary donations or become a volunteer, please visit: thefreedomline.com.
